I Have Come for YOU! – April 12, 2020

April 12, 2020

As we celebrated Easter Sunday together via Zoom, Melissa spoke from the Gospel of John’s account of Jesus’ resurrection.

The disciples are huddled together, afraid the Roman soldiers will find them and they too will be killed as Jesus was. Every person in the story recounted in this gospel is alone, in the dark. Only in this retelling does Mary go to the tomb.

Jesus gives Mary just what she needs to believe. One-by-one Jesus will meet the ones he loves in the place of their need, in the way they need to receive him.

We wouldn’t be here today simply on the basis of an empty tomb or a couple of apparitions. We’re here today because Jesus reached down into human life and returned to the ones he loved. We are here today because someone else told that story to you. We are here because Jesus continues to give us what we need.
