On this first Sunday of Lent, Melissa preached from Luke 4:1-13, the story of Jesus’ temptation.
The last two years of the pandemic have held untold losses. We are entering Lent brimming with trauma and fear of these past two years. We each have been holding in so much. It’s hard to know what the future holds, what is still before us. We are reminded of those long lonely days that Jesus spends in the wilderness day after day, mustering the will to go on just a little bit longer.
During this season of Lent we will have the opportunity to pour out before God and one another the pain we’ve been holding in. This Sunday we reflect on what we have lost control of in the past year.
