Most people participating in worship this Sunday would agree there was a special sense of the Spirit at work. As part of his message, Duane shared a model of the church as the body of Christ, illustrating four quadrants of how the church lives out Jesus’ teachings, particularly in the context of difficult discussions that have been taking place within our congregation, throughout Mennonite Church USA as well as in the broader church. MCUSA Director of Leadership Development Terry Shue first originated the model, based on the DiSC personal assessment tool.
Prior to the sermon, a readers’ theater read Ephesians 4:1-16. Following the first part of Duane’s sermon, Richelle read from Revelation 2:1-7, and led the congregation in reciting Psalm 23. Following the second part of the sermon, Duane led into a time of communion.
