On this first Sunday of Advent, 2008, Duane brings a message of hope even in the midst of so much desperation in our world. His sermon is based on Psalm 80, Isaiah 64:1-9, and Mark 13:24-37.

Duane speaks from Luke 17:11-19, encouraging us to be mindful of all we have to be thankful for.

Isaac Villegas, pastor of Chapel Hill Mennonite Fellowship, shared with us this first Sunday of Novemeber, which is also All Saints Day. His message weaved together the lectionary readings from Revelation 7:9-17 and Matthew 5:1-12.

Our solid rock is the Greatest Commandment that gives us direction in the midst of the shakiness of our world.

In this season of elections and tough economic times, Matthew 22:15-22 calls attention to what image is stamped on our lives. Our culture's values have profound power to shape our choices.  Jesus intrudes with counter-cultural values.  He likewise has profound power to shape us.  The choice is ours. 

God's hope for the world is the community of believers, the body of Christ chosen to serve and given the priestly purpose of being the sign of God among people and being in solidarity with people to bring them to God.  I Peter 2:9-10.

Former RMCer Alex Sider was our guest Sept. 14, bringing a message of hope in Christ's way of forgiveness based on the lectionary passage from Matthew 18:21-35.

Hope is in short supply.  Foundational to hope is God-with-us. Our ability to share hope that we have is dependent on knowing this God-with-us.
